Turn around, athletes: the next generation is nipping at your heels. You may have spent decades training, but the youngins are taking the outdoor adventure world by storm with just a few years of experience both in life and in sports. Ouch. But as easy as it would be to get discouraged, let’s see if we can’t glean a little inspiration instead. One perfect example is Isaac Hull, a twelve-year-old whitewater kayaker from Richmond, Va., who’s already surpassing the area’s most renowned boaters. This kid is a champ, from the shore to the rapids, and he’s only just getting started. Read more about Isaac here in our own article on “The Future of Adventure.” The video, “ThirtyNineDegrees” was shot on Isaac’s local training grounds, the James River, in the dead of winter – as if we needed another reason to admire him. Check out Isaac not only showing off his incredible skills, but having the time of his life on the water.
Re March 7 letter, “Letter about Obama exposes racist views”: Ouch. Did you just call me a racist? You missed my point, Polly Windels. I was commenting on all of the hype when Obama and Hillary ran for office.I stand by my comment that more people came out to vote, plus people liked Obama. They didn’t like Hillary (at least not enough people to get her to the Oval Office). This is hardly a racist comment. It’s a fact. I personally don’t care if the candidate is green with pink spots, just so long as I agree with his/her political views.Lorraine VanDerWerkenRotterdamMore from The Daily Gazette:Foss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen?Car hits garage in Rotterdam Sunday morning; Garage, car burnRotterdam convenience store operator feels results of having Stewart’s as new neighborEDITORIAL: Urgent: Today is the last day to complete the censusEDITORIAL: Beware of voter intimidation Categories: Letters to the Editor, Opinion
