Police said 26-year-old Leland Acampora of Hauppauge was driving a Hyundai Sonata west on Fort Salonga Road at 4:30 a.m. when he apparently lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. The driver and 26-year-old Woody Zalman of Commack, who was seated in the back of the car, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, police said. The front seat passenger, 26-year-old Paul Weingart of East Northport, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said. The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing, police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
