USCG Aircrew Medevacs Woman from Cruise Ship

first_imgzoom A 50-year old woman suffering health complications was medically evacuated from the cruise ship Carnival Liberty by a U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., helicopter crew off the coast of Cat Island, Bahamas on Sunday.At approximately 5:30 p.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Seventh District command center received notification from the cruise ship concerning a 50-year-old woman experiencing health complications Sunday.A medical crew aboard the cruise ship examined the patient and contacted the Coast Guard for assistance. After discussing the woman’s condition with the Coast Guard’s on-duty flight surgeon, it was determined that a medevac was needed.A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew deployed to the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), arrived on scene and hoisted the woman and a nurse off of the cruise ship.The woman was transferred to EMS crews in Nassau, Bahamas and later transferred to Doctor’s Hospital where her condition was listed as stable.Press Release, May 01, 2014, Image: Wikimedialast_img read more
